Myanmar Food



There is no country that does not have its traditional food. Myanmar also has its own food. Myanmar people usually eat three meals a day. They are breakfast, lunch and dinner. For breakfast, there are some fried rice and boiled garden pea or steamed
beams and snacks. Rice and curry are eaten for lunch and dinner as main food.
          Some Myanmar curries are spicy and there is always paste in many forms with picked boiled or raw and salad. The popular curries are chicken curry, pork curry, butter fish with tomato curry and vegetarian curry. Soup mostly made of vegetable is taken together with rice and other dished. Coconut rice is the delicious Myanmar food. Moreover, there are some foods like "Mohinga", the rice noodles with fish gravy and "Oun-nou-khau-hswe", noodles with coconut chicken gravy as breakfast. There are Myanmar snacks such as steamed sticky rice, boiled sago, steamed rice cake, steamed sticky rice dough, and toddy fruit cakes. Most of Myanmar snacks are made from rice. There are many desserts in Myanmar food. "Sanwin-ma-kin" is Myanmar sweet cake made with semolina, sugar, egg, butter and coconut. Besides, there are Myanmar style banana cake, jelly, jiggery and various fruits jams. Myanmar plain tea with picked tea salad is the favorite food of Myanmar and is served as most social or religious occasions.
          There are also some popular food of national groups likes Shan noodles, Bago coconut noodles and "Mandalay Kyar-zan-hin-gar" and "RakhineMoun-di". Myanmar traditional cuisine and snack are very good and delicious. Not only our citizens but also foreigners like them. We cannot substitute Myanmar food with the best food of other countries.
